Our own inspirational team of runners and their achievements

It was results on the world stage that provided the inspiration last week. This week it was all about some of our own inspirational team of runners and their achievements.

This was the week when CRR said – “Eliud, Brigid - hold our beer!”

We start on Friday night at the Hairy Scary Helmet Relay Race where our 2 teams of Suzanne and Tayla Leusby, Louise and Freya Lowe, Sarah Street Rose, Tanya Beighton and Lynn Hazelton completed the 4x3km relays in 1:27:48.

On Saturday, the action was up in Aberdeen where Michelle Needham ran the Dramathon and scored a marathon PB of 3:54 and a goodie bag of whisky miniatures.

Even farther afield at the Seattle Half Marathon, John Sanderson came in 2nd place in 1:22:30 and a Club Silver Standard and Kerry Anderson finished in 1:52:55 and a Club Bronze Standard. Both were running their first race in CRR colours 🇺🇸.

On to a very busy Sunday and first, at Wirksworth Undulator fell race, Richard Hind finished the 8.4 mile course in 1:21:22.

At the Thoresby 10 mile race, Annie Morton achieved a Club Bronze Standard with her 1:24:52 PB.

To Chesterfield and starting with the 5 mile race, first home for the Club was Paul Taylor in a 3 minute PB and Bronze Club Standard time of 36:45. Paul Sadler came in behind him on 38:40.

Andrea Walker started the morning leading the warm-up for both races and obviously did a good job of it, then going on to finish 2nd Female and secure a Club Silver Standard with her 39:09 finish.

Kim Abbott finished in 46:55 and Marie Hewitt in 55:57.

Turning to the Half Marathon and Jordan Street was first CRR finisher in 8th Place overall with his 1:21:18.

Darren McQuade and Dan Harpham both stopped the clock on 1:37:46. Nick Fowler finished in 1:46:15; Katy Taylor 1:55:12 and Holly Page 1:55:43.

Up to York and at the 10 mile race Giles Searby was first home for CRR in a 10 min distance PB of 1:24:17. Bridget Hemstock scored a PB and a Club Bronze Standard (and very close to a Silver) with her 1:25:07 finish. David Johnson also finished with a distance PB in 1:29:39.

Last, but very much not least, to the Yorkshire Marathon in York and an awe-inspiring set of CRR results.

Gareth Lowe was first home for the Club in his England Masters vest in 6th Place overall, 1st MV45 in 2:26:30.

Darren King finished 17th and 2nd MV50 in a 2:32:05 PB. Chris Adams, in his first race for CRR, finished in 2:35:25, a PB and Club Gold Standard time. We can’t wait for your second race Chris!

Matt Martin finished his first marathon in 2:51:39 which earns him a Club Silver Standard. Michael Brown finished his first marathon in 3:46:49 and Andy Harris finished in a 13 minute PB time of 3:47:24.

Julie King scored a marathon PB with her 3:56:42 👏. Jo Johnson achieved a PB and Club Bronze standard with her 3:58:03 finish.

Finally, John Bingham wrote of marathon racing that - “The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start." So big kudos to Malc Ward for battling some niggles and race demons for his 4:07:01 finish and to Steve Hattersley who ground out his 4:36:44, having suffered a debilitating injury recurrence at the 10 mile mark.

Well done all!
