Virtual GP Guidance Notes
To ensure that members have opportunity to complete the 2020 GP, a series of ‘virtual’ events have been organised for the period June-September. Further events will be organised if races have not resumed at that stage.
Events will be organised in line with government guidelines at that time. Currently (20 June) no more than 6 people can meet together outside. Time slots will be determined for the day of the race and it is essential you book a slot (except for the Park Run). This will be managed by Giles, primarily via the CRR Facebook Group. Thank you for agreeing to do this, Giles.
Courses will be marked where necessary with eco-friendly spray paint and directions provided in advance (a mix of Strava maps and written guidance).
You are encouraged to run in your red club vest/top (but see later).
We may decide to organise events slightly differently as we learn through experience. Initially we are looking at time slots at regular intervals.
We ask that you do not arrive at the starting point more than 15 minutes before your time slot and leave within 15 minutes of finishing. This is to prevent numbers of CRR members kitted out in red vests far exceeding the government guideline for group sizes and standing out like sore thumbs in red vests ……
Each runner is responsible for logging and submitting their time. You are also asked to provide proof of time/distance (Strava or equivalent, or photo of watch). Results to be submitted by 12 midday on the following day.
To complete the GP, you are still expected to complete a minimum of 8 events, including any of the 4 events you completed before the outbreak of the virus. This will be kept under review by the GP Committee. You must still complete at least one race from each category (1,2 &3). However, you no longer need to complete 1 race in each Type (road, fell, trail & XC).
No club standards will be awarded for these events.
If you wish to complete a marathon (or 20 miles or greater for over 60s) to qualify for the All-Round Grand Prix you can run this on a course of your own choosing, at any time. Again, you just need to submit the details and supporting evidence.
You can submit your time in several ways. Firstly, if you use Facebook you can put a post on the Clowne Road Runners Members Group page and share your achievement with fellow members. Please remember to include proof of your time/distance when posting. If you are too shy to do this, you can send details (and proof) to be via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. And if you’re shy and only use email ….. my address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please submit your time & proof no later than midday of the following day.
Finally, please bear in mind there will be no marshals on courses, ‘Beware Runners’ signage, or first aid. So take extra care, especially when running on or near roads.
