To borrow an incisive quote from Donald Trump, this weekend was at times “one of the wettest we’ve ever seen from the standpoint of water” .
On Saturday, before the rain arrived, Jackie Rookes scored an excellent Bronze Award winning PB at Rother Valley Parkrun, finishing in 28:19.
Meanwhile, over on the coast at Ravenscar, Darren King was running in the 15 mile Coastal Half Marathon including “a few knocks” and he knocked the competition “into a cocked hat” with his overall victory in the race finishing in 1:53:00, some 7 minutes ahead of the second place runner.
Also on Saturday, at a very wet “Fell’n’Back” 10.5 mile fell race in aid of Buxton Mountain Rescue and run across a course taking in 3 counties – yes, you guessed it – Richard Hind was representing the Club and finished in 1:54:46.
Sunday’s running starts at the Cusworth 10K where Sally Cocking finished in 1:06.
At the Robin Hood Half Marathon, Paddy Abbott scored a distance PB with his 1:49:50 finish and Annie Morton finished in 1:55:42.
Also on Sunday, over in Germany, although hampered by injury, Chris Amery still got the job done, with his 3:38:19 finish in the Berlin Marathon.
Finally, at a soggy Tissington Trail Half Marathon, Steve Hattersley was first home for the Club in 1:40:39. Giles Searby finished in a 2 min distance PB time of 1:51:35. David Johnson also scored a distance PB with his 2:00:47 finish and Suzanne Leusby finished in 2:04:08.
Well done all!
