The Summer season lull continues, but for those not enjoying half-board somewhere nice, there was half marathon action to be had this week along with a couple of other races.
Richard Hind was down at Darley Dale on Thursday for Ricky’s Race – a 4.5 mile fell race including some steep climbs, which he finished in 40:24.
There was a bit of “weather” around for the weekend races, which started on Saturday with the latest race in our Grand Prix series, the Erewash Half Marathon.
There were some great CRR performances - once their bus driver found the start-line. First home for the Club was Mike Brown in 9th place overall with his 1:39:21, which was also a 1st in Age Category. Paul Sadler came in on 1:47:32 (after a slight detour) and Neil Yewman 1:49:24 for a new PB.
Andrea Walker finished in 1:51:27 and was also a 1st in Age Category. Malc Ward finished in 1:55:13 and Ellis Hewitt’s 2:03:15 was again a 1st in Age Category finish. Jo Johnson finished on 2:13:12 and David Johnson 2:15:19. Graham Sheen completed a CRR quadruple of 1st in Age Categories with his 2:22:55 and Suzanne Leusby came in on 2:23:23.
At Sunday’s Newark Half Marathon, Paul Taylor’s 1:48:23 scored him a Club Bronze Standard. Matt Taylor’s 1:49:49 was a 5 min course PB and Annie Morton also achieved a Club Bronze Standard with her 1:52:05. Paddy Abbott finished in 1:55:44 and Craig Lockett achieved a 2:01:00 PB.
Meanwhile at the Askern 10-mile race, Gareth Lowe came home in 2nd place in 56:13 and Louise Lowe 1:21:47.
Finally, since that’s all there is to report this week, there is just room for a new occasional look back at the Club’s annals [double-checks not auto-corrected!] and so this week in 2006, at Askern 10 Mile, John Proffitt finished in 1:20:09 and Graham Sheen 1:26:05.
Well done all!
