The watchwords for week’s report are weather and whether.

All week the weather was either rain, or about to rain (as the photo from a soggy social Hardwick 10K recce on Tuesday testifies). Whether to go out and run in the rain again was a question many asked themselves at some point during the week!

Questions too as to whether results were correct when they did run. The sodden timekeepers at the Tunnels and Trails Race, of which more below, initially took 10 minutes off runners’ finish times and so inadvertently gave Lewis a 10K World Record!

Whether also to penalise Jordan Street for late submission of some results from last week? We’ll let him off this once!

Jordan finished 15th in the Kimmy Kanter on 4th June in 25:02; 23rd in the Calver Fell Race on 5th June in 35:18; 20th in the Edale Fell Race on 9th June in 44:58 and 12th in the DCRO Fell Race on Thursday in 44:58.

Tuesday saw a very wet Handsworth Hobble run over the same course as the Inter-Club XC. First home for CRR in 2nd place was Darren King on 33:40 followed by Graham Worsfold 10th in 36:06; Mike Brown 40:45; Julie King 50:26 and Liz Close 1:02:26.

The rain was also hammering down for the Tunnels and Trails 10K at Wirksworth on Wednesday and Lewis Banton was the race winner in a (corrected time) of 35:56.6. Next home for CRR was Dan Harpham in 41:50.7; Hannah Sharpe was 6th Lady with her 45:34.7 PB finish. Michael Lees ran 52:01.0; Allison Preece 52:01.06 and Sandra Lees 1:11:51.4.

Louise Lowe ran the Blackamoor Chase on Thursday in 45:02.

On Friday, Louise was also part of a team for the Hairy Helmet Relay, which was 4 x 2 (and a bit) miles off road laps of Darley Park in Derby. The Red Roses team of Helen Worsfold, Julie King, Louise Lowe and Suzanne Leusby completed it in 1:08:29. The Red Poppies team of Gemma Hind, along with juniors Molly Hind, Freya Lowe and Tayla Leusby came in on 1:18:08.

The rain held off for the Ladies Takeover, aka the Prosecco Parkrun, at Poolsbrook on Saturday, where Hannah Sharpe was Co-Run Director with some CRR Ladies also among the volunteers. Matt Martin was first finisher in 17:41; Michael Burr came in on 28:04 and Sally Cocking achieved a course PB of 29:57.

Saturday also saw the popular Three Lakes Classic Race from/to Rother Valley. Second home in the race was Lewis Banton on 1:27:22, with Jordan Street 3rd in 1:30:30. Nick Fowler came in on 1:34:48; Dan Harpham 1:43:56; Ian Brookes 1:59:55; Steve Tebb 1:59:57; Andrea Walker 2:02:30; Tracy Jones 2:10:57 and Lynn Hazelton 3:07:50, supporting her sister to her first race finish beyond 10K.

On Sunday, at Ripley 10K Matt Taylor finished in 50:15 and Michael Lees came in on 55:14.

Finally, a group of “Clownies on tour” ran the St. Johann Sparkasse lauf in St. Johann in Tirol, Austria on Sunday. Over this flat 6.1K 3 lap course around the town, Adrian Kirkham finished in 27:50, 30th Male finisher; Neil Inns 30:39, 44th Male; Gillian Carter 33:14,16th Lady and 3rd in age group and Angela Kirkham 43:36 and 26th Lady. With 6 bottles of Huber Brau beer for every finisher the final whether is whether they managed to drink it all after?!

Well done all!
