Lovely sunny Easter weekend for racing

It’s been a lovely sunny Easter weekend with not too much racing going on, but we start this week’s report over in Kiev.

Trukaniv Run Day

A momentous weekend in Ukraine saw not only the election of a TV Comic as President, but also the crowning of Gareth Lowe as the third fastest 5 km runner in the country. At the Trukaniv Run Day (Parkrun equivalent) Gareth finished in 16:23 and also beat the course record by a whopping 31 seconds!

Back home at normal Parkrun, in the pick of the results, Michael Brown broke 20 minutes for the first time with his 19:53 PB at Rother Valley. Also at RV, Jo Johnson achieved a new PB of 24:10. At Poolsbrook, Hannah Sharpe scored a course PB of 22:27; Neil Yewman achieved a PB of 23:13; Neil Inns finished in 23:38 – only a minute off his pre-leg break best and Gillian Carter came in on 26:22.

Fakenham Easter Sunday 5k

On Sunday, down in Fakenham, Matt Martin finished the Fakenham Easter Sunday 5k in an impressive 18:22.

Peak Rail Seven

Easter Monday’s main action was down at the Peak Rail Seven where the challenge was to beat the train over the 7 mile course and all of the CRR runners steamed to the finish before the train. First home was Steve Tebb in 51:29, followed by Paul Sadler in 55:00 and Malcolm Ward in 56:40.

Well done all!

Finally, a quick word for all our fretting VMLM Runners – you’re all set and the weather gods are with you this year too – Good luck, have a great race and sure we’ll be reporting some great results next week!
